NGC 1763 lies in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a companion galaxy to our own Milky Way. It is the 2nd largest known stellar nursery in the LMC and resides in an extensive Ha-emission region (hence the reddish background). The globular cluster in the upper right is NGC 1783, which is associated with the LMC too.
