NGC 7635 "Bubble Nebula"
Telescope: RCOS 14.5” at Rowe, NM
Camera Filters: Red, Blue, Green, Oxygen, Hydrogen
Total exposure: 13 hours
Image width: 1/2 degree
The Bubble Nebula, discovered in 1787 by Sir William Herschel, results from stellar winds expanding outward from a massive, young central star. The surrounding molecular-cloud's radiation, also excited by same star, adds to the scene. In this image, oxygen emissions map to blue and hydrogen to red (with a bit of blue).
